Argentina defeated France in a penalty shootout after 3-3 draw to win the Qatar 2022 World on Sunday. This is the third time Argentina has won the World Cup.
FIFA World Cup has produced eight different winners since its inauguration in 1930 – Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France, Uruguay, England and Spain.
Brazil have lifted the trophy fives times in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002 – the most won by any country. Brazil is followed by Germany and Italy, with four wins each.
Germany won it in 1954, 1974, 1990 and 2014 while Italy were the champions in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006.
Italy is the only country to have won the trophy back to back – in 1934 during their debut and in 1938.
Only teams from Europe and South America have won the FIFA Men’s World Cup.
