FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways five days after the network paid $787million to settle Dominion lawsuit.
Fox in a shocking announcement Monday, said his final show was on April 21st.
Carlson was the network’s most successful host drawing in 3.5million viewers every night.
‘We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor. Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st,’ the network statement read.
His departure comes days after Fox settled with Dominion Voting Systems which had sued for defamation after the US 2020 presidential election.
Dominion sued for $1.6billion and settled for $787million at the 11th hour.
It’s unclear how long Carlson had left on his contract, or whether Fox will pay severance.
A 2020 report by CNN’s Brian Stelter listed his salary as $10million-a-year.
Carlson created the conservative news site The Daily Caller in 2010 but sold his stake in 2020, three years after taking the helm with his own show at Fox, where he’d been a contributor for a number of years prior.
