Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi has suspended the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara, pending an investigation into allegations made by the Kano State Hisbah Board.
Sankara was arrested by the Hisbah in an uncompleted building with a married woman. Dr. Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, confirmed the arrest on Friday evening. In a statement issued that night, Sankara denied the allegations, describing them as false, baseless, and malicious.
He claimed that the accusations were part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image. However, the state government released a statement on Saturday, signed by Malam Bala Ibrahim,
Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State. The statement explained that the suspension was necessary to allow for a thorough investigation, ensuring transparency and maintaining the integrity of the state administration. More details will follow.
