The governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara, has retained four commissioners that served under former governor, Nyesom Wike administration. This comes as the state assembly screened and confirmed the appointees by the new governor.
At the resumption of plenary on Tuesday, Speaker of the House, Ikwuiyi Ibani, read out a correspondence from the Governor, requesting the House to screen and confirm the shortlisted persons as Commissioner-designates and members of the State Executive.
The commissioners retained by Fubara are Professor Zacheaus Adangor (SAN), who served as the Attorney General in the last administration; George Kelly-Alabo who was the immediate past Commissioner for Works; Professor Chinedu Mmon, the immediate past Commissioner for Education; and Isaac Kamalu, the former Commissioner for Finance.
The nominations were unanimously confirmed by the house. The speaker noted that the nominees performed very well while serving the state in the past administration.
The nominees were screened by the 9th Assembly. The 10th Assembly is expected to be proclaimed on June 5.
