Domestic flight operations resumed at the Kaduna International Airport on Monday after more than five months of suspension.
A commercial passenger flight from Lagos landed at the Kaduna airport at exactly 5:10 pm on Monday, at the airport amidst tight security, marking the resumption of flight operations along the route, Channels Television reported.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), said more airlines are expected to resume operations at the Airport.
Commercial airlines had suspended their flights into the airport following an attack by bandits at the airport.
Azman Air which continued to operate the Kaduna Airport route later suspended flights into the airport about five months ago.
Consequently, passengers on the Lagos-Kaduna route were forced to either land in Kano or Abuja and travel to Kaduna by road.
The Manager of Kaduna International Airport Manager, Adamu Sheikh, declared the airport safe and secure for both passengers and airline operations, insisting that the airport was never shut down due to bandit attacks.
According to the airport managers adequate security measures have been put in to ensure the safety of passengers and airline operators.
