Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, recently commissioned the Joint User Hydrant Installation (JUHI-2), the largest Jet A1 depot in Nigeria, emphasizing its significance for the aviation sector.
He commended the collaboration of seven major oil companies, likening it to past banking consolidations. Keyamo highlighted the importance of quality control and adherence to international standards to ensure safety and job creation.
“This project can provide significant employment opportunities for Nigerians,” he noted. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of FAAN, stated that JUHI-2 would enhance operations and boost national economic growth. Patience Dappa, Chairperson of JUHI-2 Limited, emphasized that the facility, covering 46,000 square meters with a storage capacity of 15 million liters of Jet A1 fuel, represents operational excellence and reliability.
It features advanced systems for efficient fuel supply to Murtala Muhammed International Airport and nearby airbases. Dappa added that JUHI-2 would improve efficiency, reduce delays, and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional aviation, ultimately bolstering the country’s status as an aviation hub in West Africa.
