History was once again made in a sensational manner when top seed, Novak Djokovic came from two sets down to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas in a tension-soaked French Open final.
Tsitsipas was about becoming the first Greek major champion till the world No 1 staged a comeback to overcome the Greek 6-7 (6-8) 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 at Roland Garros on Sunday.
Djokovic thus becomes the first star in the Open Era (3rd of all time) to win at each grand slam at least twice.
Djokovic had never won a major from two sets behind in a championship match but is just one shy of the record tally of 20 grand slam titles held by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, who he beat in an epic semi-final on Friday.
Djokovic demonstrated yet again his astonishing stamina and mental strength after beating 13-time French Open champion Nadal in match of jaw-breaking quality at the semis.
He holds the record of a 32nd five-set victories in majors and the first man to win the final at Roland Garros from two sets down since Gaston Gaudio in 2004.
