President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein as the substantive Accountant-General of the Federation, effective immediately.
Director of Communications, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Mohammed Ahmed disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, as the substantive Accountant-General of the Federation following the successful conduct of a selection process to fill the existing vacancy,” the statement noted.
“The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR made this known today, Friday 19 May 2023 in Abuja, adding that the appointment is with effect from Thursday, May 18, 2023. The new appointee is to resume immediately.”
Madein was born on March 7, 1965 7 in Iperu Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, and until her appointment, she was the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
She takes over from Sylva Okolieaboh, who was appointed in an acting capacity following Anamekwe Nwabuoku‘s removal. Anamekwe had earlier replaced (in an acting capacity) Ahmed Idris who was suspended over alleged misappropriation on N106 billion.
Idris was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 16, 2022, following his refusal to honour the agency’s invitations to answer questions on the allegations.
To fill the position, 20 directors were drawn from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies to take part in the process leading to the filling of the vacancy.
The 20 shortlisted candidates that took part in the process are Danladi Comfort, Gombe (Interior); Mohammed Yar’Abba, Sokoto (Fire Service); Mufutau Bukola, Oyo (Transportation); Mahmud Kambari, Borno (North East Development Commission); Mohammed Dojo, Gombe (Interior); and Waziri Samuel, Borno (Agriculture and Rural Development).
Others are Maiden Sakirat, Ogun (OHCSF); Adaramoye Oluwole, Ekiti (Humanitarian Affairs); Isa Abubakar, Yobe (Science, Technology and Innovation); Ogunsemowo Olakunle, Ogun (Environment); Egbokhale Charity, Edo (NFF); Ibrahim Jibo, Kano (National Boundary Commission); Ogbodo Nnam, Enugu (National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission); and Bakare Juliannah, Ekiti (NPF).
