At least 29 fishermen in Mukdolo village in Gamboru-Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State have been killed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while fishing in the Lake Chad region.
Mukdolo village is in Gamboru-Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, a Nigeria-Cameroon border town along the fringes of Lake Chad.
It was gathered that the fishermen were killed on Wednesday while on fishing and wood-cutting activities by terrorists riding on motorcycles.
“The terrorists asked the victims to lie down. Thereafter, they used their fishing net and wrapped the victims before they started torturing them. After they became unconscious, they opened fire on them and killed all 29 of them,” a source said.
A military source who confirmed the attack said, “the bodies were recovered in search and rescue operation by troops who received the news from victims that fled the attack.”
