The Academic Staff Union of Universities after its meeting on Thursday night has suspended it’s eight-months-old strike.
The decision which is expected to be made public by a statement from the Union on Friday morning was taken at the end of the National Executive Meeting of ASUU which started on Thursday night and went on into the early hours of Friday.
The strike is said to have been suspended conditionally, according to sources at the NEC meeting held at ASUU national secretariat,.located at the premises of the University of Abuja.
Members of the Committee, while confirming the suspension to journalists said the committee will determine its next line of action especially on the Court of Appeal ruling last week.
The Appellate Court, had ruled that the union can only appeal the judgement of the Nationql Industrial Court ordering it to suspend its strike, if it first calls of its strike.
ASUU had embarked on the strike on February 14, 2022 to press home it’s demands from the Federal Government.
