Governor Alex Otti of Abia state has approved the appointment of Mrs Ngozi Queen Obioma as the new Head of Service of the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu confirmed the appointment is a press release made available to the media.
Mrs Obioma’s appointment will take effect from 1st December, 2023. She replaces the outgoing Acting Head of Service, Lady Joy Maduka.
Governor Otti had a month into his tenure directed the immediate suspension of the former Head of Service Sir Onyi Wamah, along with Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service. Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Dr John Pero Irokansi; and the Solicitor General of the State, Mrs U. G. Uche Ikonne, were however, exempted from the July directive.
He proceeded to appoint Lady Joy Maduka, then a Director in the Ministry of Education as the Acting Head of Service.
Alex Otti on November 7, sworn in 24 new Permanent Secretaries who he said will serve as the engine room for the effective service delivery in the “New Abia of our dreams.”
Gov. Otti has vowed to clean up the mess in the Abia state civil service. He has since activated the policy which compels those who have served as Permanent Secretary for four years or Director for eight years to proceed on compulsory retirement.
