MTN Nigeria Plc (NGX MTNN) has said there is no cause for alarm over the news circulating that the network will experience disruption in Nigeria soon.
The telecommunication giant disclosed this on Wednesday in a press release signed by the Company Secretary Uto Ukpanah.
The company said that it is aware of the “misleading media coverage” related to a notice sent to “a select group of customers” on 15th June regarding potential service disruptions.
MTNN said the notice was a routine notification to small group of businesses affected by a specific challenge in a very few specific locations.

The CEO of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola said “Maintaining network stability and high levels of customer service remains a key priority for us. In line with MTN Nigeria’s standard practice, this includes communicating to and informing customers of any potential disruptions in a timely manner, whether due to maintenance on the network, outages due to faults or other circumstances that may pose a risk, enabling them to plan appropriately and put in place business continuity measures.”
MTNN has the highest share of active voice subscriptions in Nigeria at 75,927,231. Although it recorded a 5.99% decline in active voice subscribers in the first quarter of 2021.
It also has the highest share of active internet subscriptions at 61,575,323. Similarly it recorded a 5.79% decline in active internet subscribers in the first quarter of 2021.
