UPDATE: Nollywood actor, Junior Pope is said to be alive alive after a boat mishap on Wednesday.
Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) disclosed this in a now deleted Instagram post.
The post which has now been deleted said the actor is alive and receiving treatment in a hospital came hours after his death was announced.
Rollas who had earlier confirmed the actors death to Channels Television wrote, “What God cannot do does not exist.
Junior Pope is alive.
“He is taking treatment in the hospital.”
The incident was said to have happened while they were returning from a movie location in a boat.
OLD REPORT: A Nollywood actor, Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, is dead.
Investogist gathered that he died Wednesday afternoon while filming in Asaba, Delta State capital.
The news of his death was shared on Wednesday, April 10, by filmmaker, Samuel Olatunji.
He drowned alongside three other actors when their boat capsized in Anam River. His body was recovered and rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, confirmed to Channels Television that the remains of the actor have been deposited at the morgue.
“Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to a location and their bodies have been recovered.,” Olatunji wrote.
“What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Olatunji wrote on his Instagram page.
The actor’s death was also confirmed by Delta State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emma Onyemeziem, confirmed to the media that the corpse had been deposited in the morgue.
He was survived by a wife and three children. He was 39 years old.
