President Bola Tinubu has authorized the renewal of Professor Ayo Omotayo’s term as Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
The renewal, announced on March 4, 2026, grants Prof. Omotayo a final four-year tenure leading Nigeria’s prominent policy think tank.
The news was conveyed through a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Prof. Omotayo, an Environmental Sustainability expert, was initially appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2021 and was confirmed by the Senate in February 2022.
Since 2022, under his leadership, NIPSS has maintained its crucial role in high-level policy research, strategic studies, and the training of senior officials via programs such as the Senior Executive Course.
