The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has reacted to his appointment by President Bola Tinubu as his Chief of Staff.
Gbajabiamila who has spent 20 years in the Nigerian Parliament and won his 6th term election into the National Assembly in the February 25th election, thanked the president for finding him “worthy.”
In statement on his Twitter handle on Friday, the Speaker said he will “work with Mr President in discharging the enormous task ahead of him for the peace and progress of the federal republic of Nigeria..
“I shall give my best when I take office on June 14 2023 as reflected in Mr. President’s official letter,” he added.
Other appointments announced by Tinubu are Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff and George Akume, former Governor of Benue State, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Gbajabiamila, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has served as Speaker of the House of Representatives since 2019. He is also from Lagos state as the Bola Tinubu.
According to Peoples Gazette, Mr Gbajabiamila was punished in the United States for stealing from clients when he practised law around Atlanta, he admitted the offences.
Peoples Gazette also reported the Speaker accepted multimillion-dollar bribes in the run-up to the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act in August 2021.
