The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has announced Adeleke of PDP winner of the Osun State governoship election.
Senator Adeleke polled PDP 403,371, Governor Oyetola polled 375,027 votes, while Lasun Yusuf of Labour Party, LP polled 2,729.
The returning Officer for the Election, Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe announced the results.
Announcing the result, Ogundipe said: “I Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, hereby affirmed that I am the returning officer for the governorship election held on Saturday, July 16 and the candidate polled the following votes: Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, APC, 375,027; Ademola Adeleke, 403,371.
“I declare that Ademola Adeleke Jackson Nurudeen, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and is returned elected.”
PDP won 17 of the 30 Local Governments in Osun State while APC won in 13 Local Government Areas.
The PDP won Ede North Local Government, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun and Ejigbo.
The Local Governments won by APC are Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Ife South, Ife Central and Ife East.
