Nigerian Breweries Plc (NGX: NB) has announced a partnership to establish a food-grade, recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET) production facility in Ogun State, Nigeria.
Disclosed today in a notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), Nigeria Brewery will hold a 29% minority equity stake in the project, with no role in control or management.
The facility will be developed, owned, and operated by Indorama Ventures Recycling Solutions Limited a special purpose vehicle.
Key partners include Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (a major partner and global leader in PET recycling for beverages) and Genesis Energy Group (a minority partner, contributing sustainable infrastructure and energy expertise).
This falls in line with NB’s sustainability goals to support Nigeria’s local recycling industry, and ensuring a secure local supply of rPET for its operations anticipating mandatory recycled content requirements under the National Policy on Plastic Waste Management.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals, technical validation, and operational steps.
This partnership advances circular economy efforts and positions NB to meet evolving environmental regulations in Nigeria’s beverage sector.
