MTN Nigeria Communications Plc (NGX: MTNN) has proposed a final dividend of ₦15 per 2 kobo ordinary share for the financial year ended 31 December 2025, bringing the total dividend for the year to ₦20 per share, subject to appropriate withholding tax. The company paid N5 interim dividend in 2025.
The dividend will be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the Register of Members at the close of business on 8 April 2026.
The dividend announcement was made in a corporate action notification released on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), where the telecoms giant outlined the details of the proposed payout and other key dates.
According to the notification, the Register of Shareholders will be closed from 9 April 2026, while the qualification date has been fixed for 8 April 2026.
Dividends are scheduled to be paid on or around 5 May 2026 to shareholders who have completed the e-dividend registration and mandated the Registrar to credit their bank accounts directly.
The Company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled to hold on 30 April 2026, where shareholders will consider and approve the proposed dividend. The Registrar to the company is Coronation Registrars Limited.
At a closing share price of ₦760 on Thursday, MTN Nigeria’s proposed total dividend of ₦20 translates to a dividend yield of approximately 2.63 per cent. This is calculated by dividing the ₦20 dividend by the ₦760 share price.
However, the effective dividend yield for new investors will be slightly lower when transaction costs are considered. When these additional costs are factored into the investment, the dividend yield reduces marginally, as the ₦20 payout would be spread over a higher total cost base.
Shareholders who are yet to complete the e-dividend mandate form have been advised to do so through the Registrar and their respective banks. The company also urged investors with unclaimed dividends to regularise their records by completing the e-dividend process or contacting the Registrar for assistance.
