Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of 625,000 vehicles in the United States due to critical safety issues involving rearview cameras and seatbelt anchors.
The announcement was made today which added to Ford’s record-breaking number of recalls his year, and which has exceeded 100 of vehicles.
The recall includes a variety of popular Ford and Lincoln models from the 2021-2024 model years, specifically:
Ford: 2021-2024 F-150, Bronco, Explorer; 2022-2024 Expedition; 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E; 2024 Ranger, Mustang
Lincoln: 2022-2024 Navigator; 2021-2024 Aviator
Key Issues:
Rearview Cameras: The cameras may show blank, inverted, or distorted images, which could impair driver visibility and increase the risk of accidents.
Seatbelt Anchors: The seatbelt anchor cables may detach, compromising occupant safety in the event of a collision.
Ford dealers will inspect and replace the faulty rearview cameras and update the relevant software at no cost to the owners, and for the seatbelt issue, dealers will inspect and repair the anchor cables as necessary. Ford will begin mailing notification letters to affected owners in late October 2025, instructing them to contact dealerships for inspections.
Owners of ford vehicles can also verify if their vehicle is affected by checking their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Ford’s official recall website (www.ford.com/support/recalls-details/) or through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s site (www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).
This recall is part of a broader wave of safety actions by Ford in 2025, with the company accounting for approximately 60% of all U.S. vehicle recalls in the third quarter, according to NHTSA data.
Ford CEO Jim Farley has acknowledged the company’s recall challenges, noting that many issues arise from older models (2015-2019) and supplier quality. He emphasized Ford’s commitment to addressing these concerns through free repairs and enhanced quality control measures, such as increased testing and inspections.
Ford urges owners of affected vehicles to act promptly upon receiving their notifications and to schedule free repairs at authorized dealerships. In the meantime, drivers should remain vigilant, especially when relying on rearview cameras for parking or reversing.
