The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for December 8, 2025, regarding Nnamdi Kanu’s ex parte motion seeking to be transferred from the Sokoto Correctional Facility to a prison closer to Abuja.
Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who is currently serving a life sentence, argues that the more than 700-kilometer distance is hindering his ability to prepare for his appeal.
Kanu was moved to Sokoto on November 21, 2025, an event that has prompted visits from the governors of Abia and Sokoto states.
His motion outlines eight grounds for the transfer request, including logistical challenges for legal consultations.
