The Federal Executive Council a total of N2.68 billion for the procurement of utility vehicles, security gadgets and and other accessories to support security agencies operating in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT).
This was disclosed by the Minister of the FCT, Mohammed Bello, after the FEC meeting on Wednesday.
Bello said 60 utility vehicles with communication gadgets will be bought at that amount and delivered within two months.
Giving details of the procurement, Bello said that utility vehicles, security gadgets, and accessories amounts to N1.835 billion while the supply of various security gadgets and accessories amounts to N847.1 million.
This approval comes amid uproar as FG confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari approved N1.4 billion to help Niger tackle insecurity.
A popular social media influencer, David Hundeyin, on Wednesday exposed the expenditure by the FG generating outrage among Nigerians. The documents published by Hundeyin showed that the President approved the release of the fund on the 22nd of February this year.
