The 2023 Confederation of Africa Football, CAF, annual awards ceremony was held on Monday night in Marrakech, Morocco.
Nigeria took home the top honours as Victor Osimhen was named Player of the Year, ahead of Morocco full-back Achraf Hakimi and Egypt striker Mohammed Salah while Asisat Oshoala was named Women’s Player of the Year for the sixth time.
The Super Eagles superstar claimed the prize for leading Napoli’s league title triumph last season. Meanwhile Oshoala inspired Barcelona to Champions League glory, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 27 goals across all competitions.
Morocco won the Men’s National Team award following their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 performance while Nigeria won the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
