Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress who is representing Kwara South was appointed by the Senate on Wednesday as its new Deputy Leader.
He was the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate. His elevation to deputy leader of the Senate followed the appointment of Senator Dave Umahi as Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Senate also appointed Senator Nwebonyi Onyeka as the new Deputy Chief Whip.
The new appointments were announced Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at plenary.
