Airline operators in Nigeria will be granted license by the authority to import petroleum product particularly ATK.
This was disclosed by the Group Managing Director of NNPC Limited Mele Kyari, while announcing the resolutions reached at the end of the meeting between oil marketers and airline operators at the National Assembly late Monday.
“As requested by the Airline Operators Association of Nigeria, they will be granted license by the authority to import petroleum product in particularly [sic] ATK, so that they can have a way of benchmarking the sales from other customers, they can also bring in cheaper products whenever it is possible,” Kyari said.
Airline operators in Nigeria had said at the meeting that they have only 3 days to shutdown operations due to the high cost of aviation fuel. The meeting was organized by the special House Committee investigating the unavailability of the product with the aim of proffering solutions.
Kyari also announced that an interim price of N500 for a litre of aviation fuel has been agreed for the next three days.
At the interim, “we agreed that they will sale for the next three days at N500 to a litre, and in day three or day four they will switch to formula that everyone can access and can compute.”
