The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State has revealed that about 556 students of the institution applied for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday signd by the Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu. He urged the public to disregard the speculation that the institution is left out of the NELFUND.
He said, “This is to inform the general public that Nnamdi Azikiwe University is not left out of the NELFUND as it is speculated in the media.
“The true position is as follows:
Five hundred and fifty-six (556) students applied, while three hundred and four (304) students were approved by NELFUND as of 16th August 2024.
“The Student Affairs Unit of the University is currently going through the list to confirm the applicants as bona-fide students before disbursement by NELFUND.
So far, 27,667 students from 19 institutions nationwide have benefited from the fund valued at N2 billion. However the caucus noted that none of the institutions is located in the south east.
