HS reported that its crew had visited the apartment of Simon Ekpa on Thursday morning to do an earlier agreed interview but were stopped by the KRP; the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation.
It went on to state that the KRP prevented them from entering Ekpa’s apartment near Lahti market, quoting a police officer from the Central Criminal Police as saying that the interview would be moved “to the future.”
When asked if not being able to see Ekpa was because the interrogations take a long time or because it is not possible to meet him, the police officer was quoted as having replied, “both and, KRP does its job here.”
HS cameraman present at the scene later testified that Simon Ekpa was escorted out of the apartment by plain clothes policemen.
Criminal Inspector Tommi Reen from the Central Criminal Police was reported to have confirmed to HS on the phone that on Thursday afternoon the KRP had a police operation in a private apartment in the center of Lahti in connection with the ongoing preliminary investigation.
The Inspector stated that the police arrested one man from the apartment. Inspector Reen did not confirm the man’s identity to HS, but only spoke in general about the operation in the apartment in the center of Lahti.
