The Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning. has said that its headquarters in Abuja is not fire as being reported.
Several reports Wednesday morning said that the building housing the Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters was on fire. The building is located in the Central Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to reports the details of the fire were unknown and that firefighters had arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire. The Spokesperson of the Federal Fire Service, Abraham Paul, confirmed the incident, according to The Punch.
However, the ministry via its official Twitter handle wrote: “NewsFlash: The Federal Ministry of Finance HQ is not on fire as reported on social media. Rather, there was an incident on the corridor in the basement involving an isolated battery Pack (photo inset). It was quickly put out by the security personnel on duty.”

This is the latest of several fire incidents that have affected government offices in Abuja.
In 2020 there fire gutted the building housing the office of the accountant-general of the federation. Also part of the Nigerian Postal Service building in FCT was burnt.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) in 2018 said that Nigeria lost about N5 trillion to fire incidents in four years.
