The Court of Appeal, Abuja has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its strike immediately.
The appeal court gave the order on Friday in a ruling on an application by the ASUU seeking permission to appeal against the order of the National Industrial Court which asked the striking lecturers to resume duty.
The apellate court gave ASUU seven days within which to file the appeal following the obedience to the ruling of the lower court.
The 3-man panel led by Justice Hamman Barka, said that ASUU must show evidence that it’s members have resumed work immediately for it to file notice of appeal.
The panel held that appeal will be found incompetent before Court of Appeal if ASUU fail to adhere by the order.
Recall that ASUU has been on strike since February 14 to press home its demands.
The National Industrial Court had on Sept 21, 2022 ordered the union to return to work.
ASUU however, filed an appeal through its lawyers against the court ruling.
