The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State was attacked by arsonist.
The INEC office was set ablaze on Sunday night. It was gathered that the state fire service men moved in to extinguish the fire.
In a press release, INEC said the incident was reported by a resident Mr. Emeka Ononamadu.
There were no reported casualties in the incident according to INEC. It however said that 748 ballot boxes, 240 voting cubicles, office furniture and equipment were destroyed.
INEC said that the commission is working to ascertain the the status of the voter registration machines for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as well as the uncollected Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in the office.
Recall that in May 2021, INEC office in Igboeze South LGA was attacked by unknown gunmen.
