Fire broke out at Balogun street, Lagos island on Sunday, gutting many shops, Vanguard reported.
According to the report, residents tried to quench the fire before the arrival of the state fire service, federal fire service and UBA Bank fire service to the scene.
The effort of the boys in the area and the residents prevented the fire from reaching the big Mikano Generator, according to the report.
The cause of the fire is unknown at the time of filing this report.
