The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari has disclosed that 125,000 barrels per day Warri Refinery & Petrochemicals Company (WRPC) in Warri, Delta State in now up and running.

Channels TV reported that Mele Kyari made the disclosure during a tour of the facility in Warri on Monday.
Before the tour of the facility began, Kyari was seen addressing the team, saying “We are taking you through our plant. This plant is running. Although it is not 100 per cent complete, we are still in the process. Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real,” Kyari said.

The Refinery, one of the four under NNPCL management is located at Ekpan, Uwvie, and Ubeji Warri, Delta State.
It was commissioned in 1978 to supply markets in the south and southwest regions of Nigeria.
The Petrochemical plant produces 13,000 million tons per annum (MTA) of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black.
