The Nigerian Exchange’s equities market began the week with a 1.92% gain as Investors’ wealth rose by ₦874 billion.
The local bourse added 1,597.93 points to close at 84,640.89 points, while the market capitalization settled at ₦46.31 trillion.

Activity Level
The activity level improved on Monday as the volume of shares trade, value of shares trade and the no of deals done all increased. While the volume of shares traded increased by 34.45%, the value of shares traded and no of deals done increased by 21.26% and 16.67% respectively.
By the end of trading on Thursday, 807.50 million shares valued at ₦11.03 billion had exchanged hands in 13,647 deals.
Shares of Transnational Corporation Plc (NGX: TRANSCORP), AIICO Insurance Plc (NGX: AIICO) and Wema Bank Plc (NGX: WEMA) were the most traded stocks by volume with 66.89 million, 62.29 million and 41.57 million shares respectively.
Shares of NASCON Allied Industries Plc (NGX: NASCON), Zenith Bank Plc (NGX: ZENITBANK) and Transnational Corporation Plc (NGX: TRANSCORP) were the most traded by value, with their shares worth ₦1.09 billion, ₦1.08 billion and ₦956.00 million respectively exchanging hands.

In Monday’s trading session, 68 stocks advanced against 8 decliners.
The top five gainers were;
- AXA Mansard Insurance Plc (NGX: MANSARD): It gained 10% to close at ₦6.49.
- Chams Plc (NGX: CHAMS): It gained 10% to close at ₦2.53.
- Daar Communications Plc (NGX: DAARCOMM): It gained 10% to close at ₦0.99.
- PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc (NGX: PZ): It gained 10% to close at N32.45.
- Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc (NGX: SOVRENINS): It gained 10% to close at ₦0.66.
The top five losers on were;
- Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc (NGX: ABBEYBDS): It lost 9.52% to close at ₦2.47.
- Julius Berger Nigeria Plc (NGX: JBERGER): It lost 3.54% to close at ₦54.50.
- Custodian Investment Plc (NGX: CUSTODIAN): It lost 3.45% to close at ₦9.80.
- Africa Prudential Plc (NGX: AFRIPRUD): It lost 2.78% to close at ₦8.75.
- FBN Holdings Plc (NGX: FBNH): It lost 1.79% to close at ₦27.50.

- Banking Index: The gained 1.30% to close 1,053.58 points (YTD: +17.43%).
- Industrial Index: The industrial index gained 4.40% to close at 3,073.90 points (YTD: +13.33%).
- Consumer Goods Index: The index advanced by 1.78% to 1,305.85 points (YTD: 16.46%).
- Oil & Gas Index: It gained 0.08% to 1,057.86 points (YTD: 1.42%).
- Insurance Index: The index advanced by 7.23% to 423.52 points (YTD: 31.67%).
