The Nigerian Exchange equities market opened trading in October and last quarter of the year with a 0.11% gain.
In the four day trading week owing to the independence day public holiday declared by the Federal Government of Nigeria on Monday, the NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 0.11% and 0.49% to close the week at 66,454.57 and N36.510 trillion respectively.

FTN Cocoa Processors Plc (NGX: FTNCOCOA) was the best performing stock in the week advancing by 19.21%, while Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc (NGX: CHIPLC) was the worst performing stock, shading 19.05%.
Activity Level
A total turnover of 2.410 billion shares worth N22.115 billion in 27,965 deals was traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange, in contrast to a total of 1.339 billion shares valued at N17.916 billion that exchanged hands last week in 27,874 deals.
The Financial Services Industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 1.261 billion shares valued at N9.660 billion traded in 12,897 deals; thus contributing 52.31% and 43.68% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
The Healthcare Industry followed with 667.197 million shares worth N1.092 billion in 437 deals. The third place was the Oil and Gas Industry, with a turnover of 162.005 million shares worth N1.778 billion in 2,612 deals.
Trading in the top three equities namely Neimeth International Pharmaceutical Plc, Universal Insurance Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc (measured by volume) accounted for 1.213 billion shares worth N2.322 billion in 1,095 deals, contributing 50.35% and 10.50% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.

The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalization appreciated by 0.11% and 0.49% to close the week at 66,454.57 and N36.510 trillion respectively.
Year-to-Date, the NGX All-Share Index has advanced by 29.66%, while Quarter-to-Date, it has appreciated by 0.11%, and Month-to-Date, it has appreciated by 0.11%.

- NGX Banking Index: The index appreciated by 1.43% to 675.77 from 666.22 (YTD: 61.66%, QTD: 1.43%, MTD: 1.43%).
- NGX Insurance Index: The index depreciated by 3.11% to 274.21 from 283.00 (YTD: 57.27%, QTD: -3.11%, MTD: -3.11%).
- NGX Consumer Goods Index: The index appreciated by 0.17% to 1,132.38 from 1,134.31 (YTD: 92.61%, QTD: 0.17%, MTD: 0.17%).
- NGX Oil/Gas Index: The index closed flat at 914.02 points (YTD: 97.63%, QTD: 0.00%, MTD: 0.00%).
- NGX Industrial Goods Index: The index depreciated by 1.38% to 2,626.23 from 2,662.86 (YTD: 20.37%, QTD: 16.12%, MTD: 1.13%).
Top gainers and losers
Forty (40) equities appreciated in price during the week higher than twenty-five (25) equities in the previous week.
Thirty-six (36) equities depreciated in price lower than forty-seven (47) in the previous week, while seventy-nine (79) equities remained unchanged, lower than eighty-three (83) recorded in the previous week.
The top five gainers for the week under review are;
- FTN Cocoa Processors Plc (NGX: FTNCOCOA): It gained 19.21% as it moved from N1.51 to N1.80.
- RT Briscoe Plc (NGX: RTBRISCOE) : It gained 16.33% as it moved from N0.49 to N0.57.
- Oando Plc (NGX: OANDO): It gained 14.65% as it moved from N7.85 to N9.00.
- Africa Prudential Plc (NGX: AFRIPRUD): It gained 11.90% as it moved from N6.30 to N7.05.
- Thomas Wyatt Nig. Plc (NGX: THOMASWY): It gained 11.46% as it moved from N1.92 to N2.14.
The top five loser for the week under review are;
- Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc (NGX: CHIPLC): It lost 19.05% as it moved from N1.26 to N1.02.
- Associated Bus Company Plc (NGX: ABCTRANS): It lost 17.72% as it moved from N0.79 to N0.65.
- UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust (NGX: UPDCREIT): It lost 10.26% as it moved from N3.90 to N3.50.
- Champion Breweries Plc (NGX: CHAMPION): It lost 9.87% going from N3.75 per share to N3.38 per share.
- Chellarams Plc (NGX: CHELLARAM): It lost 9.84% going from N3.86 to N3.48.
