Meta Platforms Inc. is asking many of its managers and directors to transition to individual contributor jobs or leave the company, Bloomberg reported.
This process known internally as a “flattening,” is aimed at making the company more efficient, according to the report, citing people familiar with the matter.
Individual contributors focus do tasks like designing, coding and research and they’re not in charge of others.
In November last year, Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, fired 13% of its workforce.
Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg, during the company’s earnings report said he still felt the organization was too slow-moving and bloated, calling 2023 the “Year of Efficiency” and vowed to cut middle-managers and underperforming projects.
