The Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, once again declined to address the controversy surrounding her National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) certificate scandal.
She stated that she wouldn’t be distracted by such discussions.
This came to light during her appearance as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today. The minister had faced criticism for failing to provide evidence of her participation in the mandatory NYSC scheme when she appeared for screening after President Bola Tinubu nominated her for confirmation.
Her confirmation in 2023 led to a legal challenge, which was dismissed in April 2024 by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
she stated saying “The matter had been adjudicated and one day, I will come out with my account. I have probably done more NYSC than you (presenter). I have done at least two NYSCs in my life.”
Despite calls for an explanation, the minister insisted that she had not done anything wrong and that she had completed the NYSC as required by law.
She also mentioned that she might share her account of what happened at a later date but emphasized her focus on delivering results to Nigerians.
