Suspected serial killer arrested confesses to 42 murders

The Kenyan police stated today that they had apprehended a “serial killer” suspect after the gruesome discovery of nine mutilated bodies in a Nairobi rubbish dump.

“We have this morning arrested a prime suspect, identified as Collins Jumaisi Khalusa” who confessed to the murder of 42 women including his wife “Imelda” between 2022 and July 11, 2024, the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Chief Mohamed Amin told reporters.

“We are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life.”
Jumaisi was arrested during a 1 am raid at Kayole after being smoked out using his mobile signals that the detectives were tracking.

He said a total of nine bodies had now been recovered so far and that autopsies on the victims would be carried out on Monday.

Police had said on Sunday the eight that had been recovered were all women.

“It is the transaction of a mobile money transfer using Josephine Owino’s (One of his victims) phone number that led the detective to the tracking suspect,” Amin said.

The officers involved in the raid said the suspect lives 500 meters from the Kware dumpsite – an abandoned quarry where at least eight bodies have been recovered.

The officer further said that Jumaisi led them to the dumpsite after confessing to the killings.

Since Friday mutilated and dismembered bodies — trussed in plastic bags — have been pulled from the rubbish heap in Mukuru slum area in the south of the capital, horrifying the country.
