President Donald Trump reinstated on Twitter

President Donald Trump has been reinstated on Twitter! This was announced by Elon Musk via his Twitter handle following a poll conducted on Saturday.

In the tweet, the world’s richest person stated, “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.”

In the poll conducted on Friday, 15,085,458 people participated, with 52% voting to reinstate Trump while 48% voted against the reinstatement.

The Twitter account of Donald Trump, a former President of the United States of America was suspended in January 2021 over what the social media site said we’re violations of its “glorification of violence” policy.

This happened on the heels of the January 6 incident which saw people, mostly Trump supporters storm the US Capitol building to protest the certification of the electoral college votes for the 2020 Presidential election, won by the current President, Joe Biden.

In May, before buying Twitter,  Musk denounced Trump’s ban as “foolish,” signaling that he would reverse the decision if his acquisition deal went through.

“Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots or spam, scam accounts. I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump,” he said at the time.

Speaking about what new Twitter policy would be, Elon Musk stated that it will be “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach.”

He went further to say that “negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted and demonetized,” with penalties applied to individual posts rather than entire accounts.

President Trump had stated in October 2022, after Musk took over Twitter that he will not be returning to Twitter even if his old account gets reinstated, but rather he would be staying on Truth Social, his own Social media company.

While Republicans in USA has welcomed the reinstated, Democrats has denounced it.
