Oyo to employ additional teaching and non-teaching staff

Mr Alamu warned applicants against applying simultaneously for both categories, saying that each applicant is entitled to either the teaching or non-teaching category.

The Oyo State Government has given the green light for the recruitment of an additional 3,000 non-teaching staff in the state teaching service.

This move is part of the government’s effort to enhance the post-primary education sector. Akinade Alamu, the chairperson of Oyo State Post-Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), announced this development in a statement in Ibadan on Friday.

He emphasized that the recruitment of new staff will be based on merit. He encouraged all eligible candidates, including those with disabilities, to take advantage of this opportunity.

Alamu stressed that merit-based employment is crucial for ensuring high-quality education, and therefore urged everyone to strictly adhere to the guidelines provided on the application portal.

He also warned applicants against applying for both teaching and non-teaching positions simultaneously, stating that each individual is only entitled to apply for one category. Prospective candidates with the required qualifications are expected to apply through  the link, within a two-week period.

Applicants must possess a National Identification Number, a functional email address, phone numbers, and other specified requirements. Alamu outlined the steps involved in the employment process, including online application, computer-based testing, and oral interviews.

He expressed gratitude to the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, for approving this large-scale recruitment exercise. Alamu credited the government’s substantial investment in the education sector for the positive results observed in the performance of students.

Furthermore, Alamu revealed that an inter-ministerial committee has been established to supervise the recruitment exercise to ensure its seamless execution. Haroon Lawal, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, stated that the primary aim of the recruitment is to strengthen the teaching and non-teaching sectors in the state’s secondary education system.
