In the APC primary election held on Friday at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, Governor Hope polled 63,618 votes to emerge the winner after the party adopted the direct primaries mode of election.

The Chairman of the Imo State Governorship Primary Election Committee Rear Admiral William Kayoda (rtd) declared Uzodinma as the party’s flagbearer for the November 11 exercise.

The Governor promised to redouble his efforts in tackling insecurity and delivering good governance to the people of Imo State if re-elected.

Continuing with his acceptance speech, Hope Uzodinma vowed not to disappoint the people of the state if elected for a second term, and he expressed optimism about winning the November exercise.

Hope Uzodinma was sworn in as Governor of Imo State on January 15, 2020, hours after Senator Uzodinma received his certificate of return from INEC in Abuja and one day after the Supreme Court nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha and declared him the elected governor of the state.
