The Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
Makinde, a member of the PDP G5 governors that opposed the PDP presidential election candidate, Atiku Abubakar, polled a total of 563,617 votes while his closest rival, Sen. Teslim Folarin of APC scored 251,230. Adebayo Adelabu of the Accord came a distant third polling 38,757.

The top three candidates polled 858,798 votes, 98.1% of the 874,672 total valid votes, while the other candidates got 15,874 votes, representing 1.8%.
The other three members of the G5 group who contested for senatorial seats in the 25th February national elections all lost; Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Samuel Ortom of Benue state.
In the 25th February national elections, the APC Presidential candidate won Oyo state with 449,884 votes, ahead of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar who polled 182,977 votes and LP’s Peter Obi with 99,110 votes.
All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the three senatorial seats in Oyo State.
Of the 13 Federal House of Representatives seats in the state, APC won 8 seats, while PDP won only 4.
