Breaking: Nnamdi Kanu’s trial adjourned to October 21, Kanu absent in court

The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPBO), which resumed at the Federal High Court Abuja has been adjourned to October 21.

The trial resumed on Monday without Kanu’s presence in court and many journalists barred from the entering the court room.

The DSS said Mr Kanu’s absence in court was due to logistics reasons.

Justice Binta Nyako stated that the trial cannot continue in the absence of Kanu since he is not available to stand his trial and called on the DSS to produce the him in court for trial.

Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, informed the court that there was a pending application before the court to transfer Kanu from the custody of the DSS to Kuje correctional centre.

Kanu’s lawyer argued that he cannot get a fair trial if he remains in the custody of the DSS. In addition, He sought for an order to grant him access to his medical doctor for thorough independent medical examination.

Justice Nyako ordered that the DSS should allow access to Mr Kanu, but not to everyone.
