Breaking News: Federal Schools will not Reopen even for WAEC – FG

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that government schools will not be reopening for the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC) Exams.

This was disclosed in a tweet post by Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari  on Digital and New Media, on his official twitter account on Wednesday.

According to Ogunlesi, the announcement to suspend school reopening was made by the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu, at FEC briefing.

Ogunlesi quoted the minister as saying that reopening “is not safe,” that “Federal Schools will not be reopening even for WAEC Exams.” The minster also called on WAEC to cancel the exams.

“There’s an EDUCATION UPDATE: Minister of Education has just announced that schools under control of the Federal Govt will NOT be reopening for the forthcoming WAEC Exams. Says WAEC should suspend exams, and urges State Govts to toe FG line. “This is not the right time to reopen.” Ogunlesi wrote.
